8 Lead Generation Strategies to Attract Your Ideal Clients

Lead Generation is an effective and efficient process to grow your customer database, ignite the interest of potential clients, and convert them into paying clients.

As the saying goes, money is on your mailing list.

You probably spend a lot of time in front of your computer thinking about how to grow your email subscribers. Or maybe thinking about how to improve your engagement to convert your website traffic into sales?

If you’re an online entrepreneur, blogger, or coach, you must’ve heard all about the importance of lead generation. If you have no idea what lead generation is, this post is a round-up of actionable strategies that you can implement to attract your ideal customers to your business.

But first, why should you use lead generation in your business?

Because when people landed on your website, don’t expect that they will buy your product immediately, that’s why you need to bring them into different stages of your sales funnel before they will put out their wallets for you. The lead generation process is to bring website users into a multi-step process that moves prospective clients from awareness until they are ready to purchase your product.

Here are the Lead Generation Strategies You Can Do:

1. Start by having a lead magnet

A lead magnet also called an opt-in freebies.

Think about why your website users or prospective clients will be willing to give their email addresses or phone number to you? It would have to be something good in exchange, right?

Freebie is usually a digital product that you offer to your readers as an incentive to sign up for your email list.

Things that you could give away for free are:

  • Discount coupon
  • Video series
  • Bootcamp
  • Templates
  • PDF
  • Cheatsheets
  • eBook
  • Trial subscription
  • Audio (podcast)
  • Free training
  • Webinar

Keep in mind, your freebie should be:

  1. Highly relevant to your reader’s interests (there should be a demand)
  2. Offer a quick fix for a problem they’re trying to solve (incentives for them to give you their contact details)
  3. Relevant to what you sell (this will motivate you to get your targeted leads)
  4. High value (setting yourself apart from your competition)

If you’ve never made a lead magnet before you might feel stuck on how to create one.  You can download and use my Lead Magnet to get started. This is a great tool for those who are looking for an orderly lead generation strategy that gets the attention of potential leads and how to convert them into paying clients down the line of the process.

2. Identify your ideal buyer's persona

98% of prospects aren’t ready to buy what you offer and traffic is not created equal.

Some are just curious, some are just researching on the web, others are looking for the best product to fit their needs, while others are still evaluating options and comparing prices.

For that reason, knowing your buyer persona is important in building your subscribers because there’s no point in wasting your marketing resources trying to create interest in an audience who just doesn’t care.

You get my point, right?

Consider the following in identifying your buyer's persona:

  1. What relevant characteristics of the end-users will benefit from your product? (high relevancy, higher conversion)
  2. Goals of the end-users? (goal achievement, high lead generation results)
  3. What is their biggest frustration? (getting their quick wins results to lead conversion)
  4. What are they afraid of? (eliminating objections, they’ll more likely to buy down the line your funnel)

3. Lead generation is to segment your offers

If you segment your offer, this can make it easier for you to deliver more focused marketing messages that speak to your potential customers. The easiest way to break this down is to share my strategy and some examples with you.

The idea is to make the right offers to the right audiences. For example, I have multiple offers, multiple products, and multiple business websites. Mostly I sell online courses, masterclasses, and digital action planners.

If someone is reading an article about “Ikigai”, they might not be interested in hearing about my Lead Magnet offer.

Here’s where segmenting comes into play.

EXAMPLE:

If you go to this article: Ikigai: How to get the money flow to increase your income

You’ll notice that the offer I have on that article is specific to my action planner related to how to find your ikigai.

Let say…

You’ve got a blog post with the title “5 Reasons Dog Licks Paws”. As a lead magnet, you offer a free cheatsheet called “5 Remedies for Dogs to Stop Licking Paws ”, in which you give lots of relevant tips that will result in treating dogs’ bad habits.

As you can see, this freebie is relevant and it would be a logical next step for your readers to sign up for your lead magnet.

But, If you were to offer a free Checklist for a road trip with a dog, this would not be relevant to convert users into a lead.

4. Create a lead generation of multiple offers

If you are truly serious to have your own income pipeline to generate passive income in this digital world, then you need to create multiple offers.

The more offers you have, the more leads you can generate because one potential client might not be interested in reading your eBook or cheatsheet, but rather prefer to watch a video or listen to a podcast.

And if you only have one offer as your lead magnet, you’ll lose potential leads.

5. Pick an email service provider

I know that choosing the best email service provider may seem difficult due to the numerous pricing options especially if you are just getting started.

I use GetResponse for almost eleven years now. This is a lead generation tool I use to grow my email list, engage, see their behavior, and make money.

For example, I can see what type of headline and content will lead to a higher open rate and click-through rate to bring them to sales conversion (see screenshot on the left). One of my favorite features of GetResponse is I can set my own rule to help me detect what works and not works for my subscribers from the time they sign-up (see below screenshot on the right).

6. Create your first opt-in form

Once you’ve chosen your email service provider, it’s time to create your opt-in form or sign-up form with your irresistible hook, so your potential customers can fill it out to join your email list.

Come up with something catchy and irresistible headline to attract people in.

If you go with the generic “Join my newsletter and get updates” and “Subscribe now” buttons, you might not get the best results and appeal to people on a very personal level.

So why not create a sign-up form that is totally in line with your offer.

Me, for example. This is one of my lead magnets How to turn your expertise or passion into digital products without being a techie in 30 days!, so…if you think this draws your interest, then feel free to sign by clicking the image below, You’ll then be redirected to my opt-in form (and get my freebies in your inbox🤗).

7. Display your offers everywhere

A huge mistake most online entrepreneurs are making is NOT displaying their free offers in as many locations as possible.

The consequence is low lead generation results.

Now that you have your lead magnet and you created sign-up forms for them, it’s time to make sure your readers can easily find them so that they are more likely to sign up to get them.

You want to take advantage of every customer touchpoint you have.

If they’re looking at your social media like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest, they can get your offer.

If they landed on your website, you must have a strategy in place to get your offer.

8. Set your lead generation automated email sequence

Setting up an automated email sequence is the best to grow your lead generation without manually sending them out every single time.

Also, you can make sure that every person that signs up gets an email from you. If you choose to use GetResponse as your ESP, watch my short video on how to stop emails from going to spam or junk folders.

Keep in mind that, if you have created multiple offers, create different sign-up forms for each.

Segment your subscribers into groups, so you know what their interests are and this will come in handy when you want to send out emails later and even create a product down the line.
